Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre presented Hollywood screen icon Al Pacino with the keys to the city at Montreal City Hall Sunday afternoon.
Coderre said he wanted to honor Pacino -- while he was in town for a one-night-only performance at Place-des-Arts -- as well as remind people that Montreal is "the place to be" for cinema and theater, CBC News reported.
"It's a [point of] pride for Montreal," Coderre said. "And obviously, I'm also a fan."
"Thank you so much for this honor," Pacino wrote as he signed for the keys.
The mayor and The Godfather actor later visited the Gilles Villeneuve racetrack to watch the Grand Prix.
