More than 1 billion votes are expected from people in 220 nations across the world in a global contest to find \"New Seven Wonders of Nature\", an official said in the capital on Thursday. Jean Paul de la Fuente, Director of Switzerland based New 7 Wonders (N7W) Foundation, said at a media briefing that it is a rare contest with the participation of people from almost all countries on earth. He was in the capital to meet senior manager of Environment Agency -Abu Dhabi to discuss the UAE\'s campaign for Bu Tinah Island to be voted as the seven winners of the global ‘New 7 Wonders of Nature\' contest. Bu Tinah Island , part of Marawah Marine Biosphere Reserve in Al Gharbia in Abu Dhabi has been short listed as one of the finalists in the international competition. There are 27 other candidates, including Galapagos Islands and Great Barrier Reef, and the global vote ends in November this year. Fuente said the competition to find the seven winners was ‘wide open\', and called on people in the UAE to support Bu Tinah. From / Gulf News
