David Oelhoffen’s Loin des Hommes

The 5th Algiers Cinema Days opened Saturday at El Mougar movie theatre with the screening of feature film "Loin des Hommes" (Far from Men) by French filmmaker David Oelhoffen.
This 110-minute film, directed in 2013 and adapted from Albert Camus’ short story "L'Hôte" (The Guest), won several prizes, particularly in the International Venice and Reunion Film Festivals.
Screened in the presence of the filmmaker, producer Marc du Pontavice and Algerian actor Reda Kateb, this film is about a pied-noir (French colonial born in Algeria) teacher from Andalusia and a poor farmer from Atlas, accused of killing his cousin and pursued by villagers, claiming vendetta.
The opening film of the 5th Algiers Cinema Days enthralled the audience which will discover 33 other works, scheduled during this event, traditionally devoted to short film and documentaries.
