Senior officials from a development financing institution and theTajik government held a meeting here on Wednesday for the investments in the country, authorities said on Thursday.
Sharif Rahimzoda, Tajik minister of economic development and trade met a mission of Islamic Development Bank (IDB) led by Hashim Maruf, the bank's regional director.
At the meeting, both sides focused on the current state and prospects of cooperation between Tajikistan and the IDB.
Special attentions were paid to the future plans and projects implemented by the IDB in the fields of economy, trade and energy in Tajikistan.
The Vakhsh river and the Panj river in Tajikistan have great hydropower potentials, and the government has focused on attracting investment for projects for internal use and electricity exports.
A planned project, CASA 1000, will transmit 1000MW of surplus electricity from Tajikistan to Pakistan.
The IDB is a multilateral development financing institution headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It groups 56 countries and Tajikistan joined the IDB in December 1996.
