Excess reserves at the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) stood at JD 2.92 billion on Thursday while the volume of required reserves during this week stood at JD1.19 billion, the CBJ added. According to the bank bulletin, the excess reserves reached its highest levels last Monday and stood at JD2.93 billion. CBJ excess reserves come from the surplus funds of banks needed to finance their operations, where the central bank pays 2 percent annual interest limited to commercial banks, while Islamic banks are not included.
