ADCB

Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, ADCB, today announced its sponsorship of Ahmed Al Musharrekh, the UAE’s first professional golfer. The agreement – which will see the bank support Musharrekh’s professional calendar over the coming year, is rooted in ADCB’s deep commitment to supporting local talent in the UAE.

Through the sponsorship, ADCB will provide Al Musharrekh with the support to help visualise his ambition of competing at the highest levels of golf. Al Musharrekh has been a regular competitor in professional competitions in recent years including a number of appearances on the PGA European tour, notably at the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship in which he first competed as a 19 year-old in 2010, and the Dubai Desert Classic.

Born in 1990, the Sharjah-based Emirati has been playing on the MENA Tour, which provides leading professional and amateur golfers from the Middle East and North Africa the opportunity to participate in world-class competition in their home region, since late 2012. At last month’s RAK Classic, he led going in to his final round and is already looking forward to a busy winter of events around the region as he pursues his dream of playing full-time on the PGA European Tour.

Martin Scott, ADCB Chief Marketing Officer, said, "At ADCB we believe that ambition is the world’s most valuable currency. The ambition of the people of the UAE gives money its true value and purpose. That’s why we chose to support the goals and aspirations of such a talented and driven individual like Ahmed who is working hard to visualise and achieve his ambitions. We are confident that Ahmed will carry the ADCB name proudly, demonstrating that true hard work and dedication to a passion does indeed pay dividends." Speaking at the sponsorship signing, 24 year-old Al Musharrekh said, "It was my childhood dream to become a professional golfer and now that it’s a reality I couldn’t be happier to have a partner like ADCB beside me. ADCB believes in people who dream big and I’m grateful they have chosen to help support my goals of succeeding at the highest level in my sport."
