President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao urged Vietnam to continue accelerating procedures on disbursement of ADB capital.
While meeting with Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Thursday, the ADB President said the bank is always ready to support the country in development process, reported Vietnam's state-run news agency VNA.
Vietnam should follow up its policy reform, attract more foreign direct investment, promote business development as well as support private, small and medium enterprises in financial area, said the ADB President.
In the past years, ADB has supported Vietnam in developing road transport infrastructure, water sources, energy development, and assisted the country's financial sector, among others.
The ADB president is on a three-day visit to Vietnam starting from Thursday to attend the Fifth Asian Development Forum to be held in Hanoi on Friday.
During his stay in Vietnam, Takehiko Nakao is scheduled to meet with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh, according to a press release by ADB.
Cumulatively, as of the end of 2013, ADB provided Vietnam 154 loans worth nearly 12.477 billion U.S. dollars, ADB said on its website.
