Palo Alto - UPI
A suspect was in custody in the theft of items allegedly taken from the late Steve Jobs\' home in Palo Alto, Calif., police said. Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery said Kariem McFarlin, 35, of Alameda, was arrested Aug. 2, accused of stealing more than $60,000 worth of computers and personal items in the July 17 burglary of Jobs\' home, the Palo Alto Daily News reported Tuesday. Flattery did not say whether the stolen items belonged to Jobs, who died last year at the age of 56, or another family member. McFarlin was arraigned on one count of residential burglary and selling stolen property, the Daily News said. McFarlin, held on $500,000 bail, could face a maximum prison sentence of seven years and eight months, including a one-year enhancement for \"excessive taking of property,\" Flattery said. Flattery said McFarlin likely didn\'t know who owned the home. \"The best we can tell is it was totally random,\" Flattery said.
