Almost two billion people are deprived of financial inclusion services across the world, Director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Development Bureau Brahima Sanou said on Thursday.
Addressing the opening session of the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), Sanou said there are 140 countries currently using the fourth-generation mobile service.
The 16th session of the Global Symposium for Regulators kicked off here early in the day under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The opening session was attended by Egypt's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Yasser el Qady and Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union Houlin Zhao.
Two sessions will be held today on the internet uses and financial inclusion.
The four-day event will discuss a number of issues, atop of which are challenges facing the IT sector and financial Inclusion to create communities based on the digital economy.
