Three Pakistani border guards accused of rape said Sunday they were willing to turn themselves in if they were guaranteed a fair trial. The officers from the Border Military Police were accused along with two civilians of assaulting five women whose car was stopped at a checkpoint in Punjab province. The officers fled the area and contacted GEO News to declare their innocence. They said the alleged victims and their two male companions were uncooperative and cooked up the rape accusations. \"The two men climbed down the car and tried to pick a fight with us,\" the officer said. \"We somehow brought the situation under control and the violators went away fuming, that too without showing any ID or letting us frisk them or check their vehicle.\" GEO News said the women claimed they forcibly taken to a private residence where they were raped by the officers and two other men. They will make a formal statement on the charges when they appear before a magistrate Monday.
