Women represent more than three quarters of the employees working for the Kuwaiti education ministry, a study indicates. According to the figures, 58,455 women, 45,726 Kuwaitis and 12,729 expatriates, are employed by the ministry, a 77.5 percent of the total 76,630 force. However, while Kuwaiti female employees outnumbered expatriates, male expatriates constituted 12.9 per cent while the 8,286 local male employees were 10.8 per cent, Al Watan daily reported on Sunday. The overwhelming female majority could explain the appointment of many women officials in leading positions at the ministry, the daily said. The education ministry has three assistant undersecretaries, while four out of six education districts are chaired by women. Two women, Nouriya Al Sabeeh and Moudi Al Homoud, held the position of education ministers. From / Gulf News
