Algiers - APS
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mohamed Mebarki stressed Saturday the need to "build an open, creative and competitive Algerian university," which trains elite and skilful persons to achieve socio-economic development.
In a speech on the occasion of the distinction of university teachers promoted to the rank of professor and director of research, the minister said this orientation "is one of the most important reforms of higher education that must be extended to overcome the shortcomings."
He reminded, in this sense, the circular on the integration of LMD graduates in the labor market that has "greatly contributed to the treatment of this problem."
The "improvement of the quality of training and the promotion of research is not limited only to institutions of higher education and scientific research, but also relates to various business sectors," Mebarki stressed, adding that "we must establish successful partnerships and good relations between the university and the company to achieve this goal."
All indications show that the "Algerian active elite in the country or abroad is the largest in Africa and the Arab world," he noted.
