Followers of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's Facebook page exceeded one million on Thursday morning, Spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry Ahmed Abu Zeid said.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry was one of the first State institutions that created a Facebook page to communicate with citizens, he added.

Abu Zeid underlined that social networking websites play an important role in briefing citizens on the state's strategic goals in the field of foreign policy.
