UN Security Council members condemned in the strongest terms the barbaric and cowardly attack against the headquarters of French magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris earlier on Wednesday, which caused numerous deaths among journalists, media professionals and associated personnel, as well as two policemen.
The President of the Security Council this month, Chile's UN Cristian Barros Melet told reporters that Council members strongly condemned this "intolerable" terrorist act targeting journalists.
The members of the Security Council underlined the need to bring perpetrators of this reprehensible act of terrorism to justice, he added.
The members of the Security Council also reaffirmed the need to combat, by all means, in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations, threats to international peace and security caused by terrorist acts, and that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.
