Turkish reporter working for US channel (NBC), Aziz Akyavas, returned home on Tuesday after being kidnapped inside Syria for the past five days when he was covering the Syrian conflict. According to Turkish news channel (HaberTurk), Akyavas, a photography reporter working for NBC, entered Turkey with three reporters after being kidnapped by Syrian regime militias. Akyavas added that they were treated badly by the militias, but not physically abused, noting that amid armed confrontation with elements from the Syrian Free Army, the latter was able to free them. According to the Turkish news channel, the Syrian Free Army accompanied by the four reporters to borders. The four reporters are one Turkish national, two Americans, and one Jordanian. Last night, the Turkish channel said that NBC was unable to contact the reporter, however NBC Middle East Office Director Richard Engel, who is currently inside Syria, was the one who announced that his reporter was missing.
