Cairo - KUNA
Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Board Chairman and Director General Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij Al-Ibrahim Al-Sabah on Tuesday opened the agency's new office in Cairo.
Opening the new premises is part of KUNA's strategy to develop bureaus overseas, with the aim of keeping pace with the breath-taking media progress, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij told KUNA on the sidelines of the ceremony.
Attending the ceremony were Kuwait's Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Aziz Al-Dihani, Charge d'Affairs at the Kuwaiti Embassy Mohammad Al-Mohammad and KUNA Public Relations and Marketing Director Essam Al-Ruwayeh.
Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij appreciated the efforts and professionalism of the office staff, saying the Cairo bureau is one of KUNA majors in the Middle East, providing a comprehensive coverage of political, economic, social and cultural developments.
He emphasized the approach adopted by the Cairo office, namely consolidating cooperation with Egypt's media foundations, especially the official Middle East News Agency (MENA) and the State Information Service (SIS).
The KUNA Board Chairman and Director General referred to two protocols signed with both to foster media cooperation between the two countries. They cover exchange of expertise and visits for promoting performance of staff in the three outlets.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij pointed out the fruitful cooperation between the KUNA office and the Kuwaiti embassy in the capital as well as the country's permanent mission to the Arab League.
This sets a role model for how the relation should be like between a KUNA office and Kuwait's diplomatic missions overseas, which helps it fulfill its media message, he pointed out.
For his part, Permanent Delegate to the Arab League Ambassador Aziz Al-Dihani, highlighted the prominent role of KUNA offices abroad as the "voice of the Kuwaiti media". He underlined the significance of Kuwaiti media presence in Egypt, the leading Arab country, and in Cairo, an eventful city.
Al-Dihani expressed pleasure for attending the inauguration, congratulating Sheikh Mubarak Al-Duaij and the office staff.
The Agency's role is parallel to Kuwait's diplomacy abroad, both supporting the state's issues and stances, he said told KUNA.
Kuwait's Charge d'Affairs Mohammad Fahad Al-Mohammad termed the KUNA office in the populous capital as "a Kuwaiti media window" providing around-the-clock coverage of events taking place in Egypt.
The embassy spares no efforts to support Kuwaiti media operating in Cairo, KUNA in particular, he noted.
Al-Mohammad accented the importance of the media message, to reinforce bilateral ties and further convergence between the peoples.
KUNA has had Cairo premises since the 1980s.
