Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan on Thursday called on media organizations along the Silk Road Economic Belt to work more closely to deepen people's understanding and mutual trust.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, made the call in the meeting with more than 30 foreign representatives attending the Silk Road Economic Belt Media Cooperation Forum.
Nearly 100 officials, diplomats and media representatives from China, India, Iran, Russia and some central Asian countries attended the forum from Wednesday to Thursday.
Chinese President Xi Jinping put forth the initiatives to build a Silk Road Economic Belt and a 21st-century maritime Silk Road in 2013.
Liu said the initiatives will help the countries along the belt and the road work together on development strategies.
Stressing China's commitment to common prosperity, Liu called for media organizations to increase exchanges, share news products, deepen collaboration, enhance understanding and mutual trust and create a favorable cultural environment for the region.
