The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Ibrahim Saif, met on Thursday with the Jordanian Press Association (JPA) President, Tareq Momani, to discuss various aspects of cooperation between the ministry and the media body.
Siaf stressed the important role played by the Jordanian press in shaping local public opinion and providing information about Jordan to the Arab and the international world.
He also emphasized the ministry's support to the JPA for a series of activities and training programs aimed at enhancing the Jordanian media's capacity.
He issued instructions to form a committee to facilitate studies related to JPA's training plans, programs and media conferences.
Momani dwelled upon the role played by the JPA defending freedom of press and promoting a press code of ethics.
He also praised the ministry's role in supporting national and civil society institutions to improve the national economy and the standards of living in the Kingdom through implementing various programs and plans and building relations with local and international institutions and authorities.
