The fifth episode of an ongoing documentary series on the Anti-Japanese War has told the story of a night raid in Yangmingbao, in which Chinese troops were successful in killing enemies and damaging their flight capability.
Starting on Monday, the series is being released on the website of China's State Archives Administration, a move to raise awareness of the war.
In mid October of 1937, Chinese troops detected that Japanese planes made departures and arrivals at the Yangmingbao airport, in north China's Shanxi Province.
On the night of Oct. 19, 1937, Chinese soldiers attacked the airport and Japanese troops counterattacked heavily.
After one-hour heated battle, more than 100 enemies were killed and all 24 enemy aircraft were damaged, cracking down on Japanese air transportation, according to the episode synopsis.
The video series is part of China's activities to remember Sept. 3, the "Victory Day" to mark China's winning the war against Japanese aggression in 1945.
