Algiers - APS
Culture Minister Nadia Labidi chaired Sunday the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the National Office of Copyright and Neighbouring Rights (ONDA) and its Chinese counterpart the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC).
The memorandum of understanding was signed by ONDA’s Director General Sami Bencheikh on the Algerian side and NCAC’s Deputy Director Yan Jian Hong on the Chinese side.
“The signing of this document comes following the request of the World Intellectual Property Organization which asked Algeria to provide assistance to China and its new administration in this field,” said Bencheikh.
He underlined that “the Chinese have their own traditions in the fields of editorial and broadcasting, but they still are in their beginnings in copyright protection.”
For his side, the Chinese official qualified the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the two countries as an “important step in terms of cultural exchange between the two countries, likely to encourage the exchange between the Algerian and Chinese writers,” hoping that “the document would be fruitful in strengthening the cultural relations between the two countries.”
