Bond, James Bond, has driven a lot of different cars over the past 50 years, but none more iconic than the Aston Martin DB5 that first appeared in 1964’s Goldfinger. Over the years, the car has returned for cameo appearances in GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies and the updated version of Casino Royale. There’s a lot to like about the DB5, including the car’s timeless good looks and sheer elegance. If that’s not enough, its ejection seat, twin machine guns, armor plating, rocket launchers and oil slick generators certainly add to its charm. There may be faster cars on the road, but there aren’t many more difficult to overtake, which is one reason why the original movie car sold for $4.1 million in 2010. World Car Fans is reporting that the DB5 will return to the upcoming James Bond film, called Skyfall, which is set for release this November. Details are scarce, but the car was spotted during on-the-road filming in Glencoe, Scotland, which means it will have more than just a cameo appearance. Other cars confirmed to appear in Skyfall include the long-wheelbase Jaguar XJ L and the new Range Rover Evoque crossover. Daniel Craig returns in the starring role, and we’re seriously hoping the Evoque isn’t his new company car. We may have to consider the planet when buying a new and sensible ride, but fuel economy and practicality should be the last items on Bond’s list of vehicular priorities
