We’ve been hearing good things about Aston’s new Vantage GT3 race car for some time, and the performance figures certainly look good on paper. Developed to surpass the track record of its predecessor, the DBRS9, the GT3 boasts a modified version of Aston Martin’s dry-sumped 6.0-litre V12. It is expected to produce around 600bhp and 700Nm of torque. It gains a carbon-fibre propshaft which connects the engine to the Xtrac six-speed sequential tranny with semiautomatic paddle shifters. It also boats a racing clutch and a limited slip ramp/plate differential. With a lightweight aluminium chassis, shorter wheelbase and lower engine position, Aston reckons the new car will handle and perform better than the DBRS9.
