Power towers feeding Media Production City blown

The Egyptian Company for Transmission of Electricity (EETC) said Tuesday two power towers feeding Media Production City were destroyed, causing a power outage that gripped the whole city late Monday.

In a statement released on Tuesday, EETC said the towers were damaged, but have not fallen.

The statement said power generation units have been immediately operated to feed the Media Production City along with reserve generators from South Cairo Electricity Company.

On Tuesday morning, an alternative electricity provider was available and the two towers will be fixed within 7 to 10 days.

The statement also said Electricity Ministry officials and bomb experts combed the area in search for any other explosives at the scene.

The electricity sector urged citizens to report immediately to investigation bodies about any information on the attackers.

High security alert was observed in the Media Production City and its surroundings to check the security measures taken at the entrances to the city and its vicinity.
