Chairman of the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) Mohamed el Sobky said on Sunday that there are four plans to develop renewable energy projects in Egypt.
During a workshop held on the sidelines of the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC), which wraps up today in Sharm el Sheikh, el Sobky said a plot of land has been allocated to generate 30 gigawatts of wind power.
He revealed a short-term plan to provide an additional 7,000 megawatts in three years.
He also stressed the importance of activating the free market system in the field of electricity.
