Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker witnessed on Sunday the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Egyptian Electricity Holding Company and two international alliances to generate 5,000 megawatts via solar energy.
The first alliance is between SKYPOWER and Gulf Development companies to establish a power plant operating by solar energy to generate 3,000 megawatts.
The second alliance is between Tera Nix and Terra Sola companies to establish a power plant that generates 2,000 megawatts.
This came on the sidelines of the Egypt Economic Development Conference (EEDC) currently in session in Sharm el Sheikh.
These power plants aim to increase the power capacity, diversify energy sources and provide it for all purposes as well as provide more job opportunities for youths in the coming period.
