Cairo - MENA
The Ain Sokhna Port received the first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) Sunday, Chairman of the Red Sea Ports Authority Hisham Abu Senna said.
"Corcovado", a huge liquefied gas carrier, sailed into the port on Sunday carrying 65,000 tons of LNG, Abu Senna said.
It is part of the government's efforts to provide energy sources to the country, he said.
Earlier this month, the port received a floating storage and regasification unit, the "Hoegh Gallant", he said.
Norwegian company Hoegh had signed a five-year contract with the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company to provide the vessel.
