While the dress colour of choice for most brides will always be white, more and more brides-to-be are wearing black titanium engagement rings. The top titanium engagement ring trends for 2013 include a range of styles—from glamorous ‘floating’ solitaires to understated wedding bands doing double-duty. The top three titanium engagement ring trends for 2013: 1. Tension set titanium diamond engagement rings Ben Vos, general manager of TitaniumRings.com, says couples are starting to value the strength of titanium. Tension setting engagement rings, which use pressure rather than prongs to hold gemstones in place, are particularly popular this year. “You can\'t trust softer metals like gold to pinch a diamond worth thousands of dollars without constantly worrying about it falling out,” says Vos. “Plus, tension set titanium diamond engagement rings are very unique. The diamond is suspended in this type of setting and is exposed to more light. They’re simply gorgeous.” One of the top-selling tension engagement rings is the Etoile Square Diamond Solitaire, a one-carat diamond ring with clean, modern lines. “The Etoile is very popular this year,” says Vos. “It’s a beautiful tension set...a sheer festival of sparkle.” 2. Titanium engagement rings that do double-duty In 2013, modest brides-to-be are turning to black titanium wedding bands as their engagement ring. Vos says many couples with modest style are getting the Lunar Eclipse Black Tension Setting, a variation of the classic domed wedding band but with a small tension set stone in the center. “They’re really popular for both men and women who want a unique wedding band, but some people like them as a low-profile engagement ring that can be worn daily.” 3. Titanium engagement rings with multiple stones For gals who love all things glam, the Meghan is the ring of choice. Available in natural titanium or black, this ring cradles three stones—either diamonds or gemstones. This eye-catching ring is one of the most popular engagement rings right now. “It reminds me of hands holding something precious,” says Vos. “It looks great in black titanium—very hot with the color contrast against the diamonds.” With the momentum building throughout the year, it appears that these engagement ring trends will continue well into 2014.
