Marks & Spencer have revealed the first product made from its revolutionary Shwopping campaign. Marks & Spencer have announced the first product made from their revolutionary Shwopping campaign. The “Shwop Coat” is a limited edition, double-breasted jacket made from shwopped wool donated by customers in M&S stores or via its charity partner Oxfam. The coat is not only better value for the environment but also for customer’s purses, at just £89 it is half the cost it would be if made from virgin wool. The coat will go on sale in selected stores across UK and online 10th October. Mark Sumner, M&S Plan A Expert, said: “The Shwop Coat marks a huge step forwards for creating a sustainable future for fashion. It’s also great for our customers who can not only see what shwopping their old and unwanted clothes can lead to, but also get their hands on a stylish coat that looks great but costs less.” Mark continued: “Our Shwop coat is the perfect example of what is possible from Shwopping, and we really hope it will lead to more of our customer’s shwopping so we can make even more garments made from their old and unwanted clothes.” The Shwop Coat follows Marks & Spencer’s sustainable suit that was launched earlier in the year. As part of its Plan A commitment to be the most sustainable retailer, M&S is committed to ensure that all of its products will have a Plan A attribute by 2020.
