Canada will aim to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent from 2005 levels by 2030, Environment Minister Leona Aglukkaq announced Friday.

This ambitious new target would be accomplished in part, she said, by regulating methane discharges in the oil and gas sector, natural gas power plants as well as the chemicals and fertilizer industry, she said.
