The number of obese people has more than doubled in 73 countries since 1980 and has continued to rise in other countries, leading to a large increase in related diseases, according to a wide-scale study published Monday.

In 2015, there were 107.7 million children and 603.7 million adults worldwide who were obese, according to the study published in the New England Journal of Medicine and presented at a conference in Stockholm.
