Wall Street stocks surged to fresh record highs Friday on increased confidence that Washington will enact tax cuts after a Senate vote eased the proposal's road on Capitol Hill.

All three major indices were at records at the closing bell, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 0.7 percent at 23,326.29.

The broad-based S&P 500 gained 0.5 percent to 2,574.87, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.3 percent 6,625.77, narrowly eclipsing the previous record.
