Italian authorities on Wednesday impounded a German NGO's migrant rescue boat on suspicion of facilitating illegal immigration, police said.

The Iuventa, operated by the Jugend Rettet organisation, was impounded on the Italian island of Lampedusa on the orders of a prosecutor based in Trapani, Sicily, the police said in a statement.
