An explosion struck the entrance to a mosque in Afghanistan's main western city of Herat late Tuesday, injuring at least 10 people, police and government officials said. 

"There has been an explosion at the gate of Jawadya mosque in Herat city, possible caused by a car bomb. Ten wounded have so far been reported," interior ministry spokesman Najib Danish told AFP.
