Lebanese villages located close to the northern border were targeted with shelling and gunfire attacks from Syrian positions, Lebanese official media reported on Thursday. Three artillery shells fired from the Syrian side of the border area crashed into the Lebanese village of Al-Khalsa, located on the Lebanese bank of Al-Kabeer river that straddles the northern border line with Syria. Bani Sakhr village, located in the northern Akkar province, was targeted with gunfire volleys from the Syrian territory. Several houses were damaged but no injuries were reported. On Wednesday, Ali Al-Hujairi, the mayor of the eastern Ersal town, told KUNA Syrian regime aircraft raided locations around Ersal, wounding 10 persons, who were taken to hospitals.
