Units of the Syrian army started on Tuesday a ground military operation in "Taybat al-Imam" town, some 18 km northwest of Hama.
Russia Today quoted a military source as saying that the military operation came after a heavy artillery bombardment of militants' positions in the town for more than four hours.
Hundreds of soldiers stormed the eastern part of Taybat al-Imam, near Soran town, the source said, expecting the troops to retake the town within the coming few hours.
This operation came 24 hours after the Syrian army's recapture of the strategic town of Soran near Hama city.
