Several foreign militants were killed in a mop-up operation carried out by Syrian army against terrorist groups in the city of Duma, Northeast of the capital, Damascus. The army units attacked hideouts of al-Nusra Front terrorists and killed scores of militants in the city, official SANA news agency reported on Tuesday. Boshar Tandanar from Turkey, Abdullah al-Bakkar from Saudi Arabia, Owel al-Mish’al from Qatar, Ayed al-Fahd from Iraq and Seif Tarawna from Jordan are the foreign terrorists killed in the operation. During the Syrian unrest, Duma has been a major flashpoint and has witnessed numerous fighting between Syrian government forces and the foreign-backed militants and terrorists. On 30 January 2012, the Syrian Army gained control of the city after a major operation against the armed groups. Syria has been gripped by deadly unrest since 2011. According to reports, western powers and their regional allies - especially Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey - are supporting the militants operating inside the country.
