Israel's army said that two errant mortars hit an open field in the Israeli-held Golan Heights on Friday afternoon, a second such incident over the past hour.
The fire triggered sirens across the Golan Heights Regional Council.
A military spokesperson said in a statement that "two projectiles were launched from Syria and hit the northern Golan Heights."
The spokesperson said no injuries had been reported, adding that forces are searching the area for remains of the projectiles.
The mortars were believed to hit Israel by mistake, military officials said.
A similar errant fire hit the northern Golan about an hour earlier.
The incident came amidst a one-day visit to Israel by the U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis.
Errant fire from the six-year fighting in Syria has occasionally been spilling over to Israel, usually causing no casualties or damage. Israel often retaliates by airstrikes.
Israel had repeatedly declared it would not intervene in the internal fighting in Syria but is widely believed to carry out airstrikes at weapon shipments and have been providing medical treatment to hundreds of wounded Syrians who reached the border.
