A delicate truce brings relative calm to parts of Syria despite breaches

A Syrian military source said on Tuesday that since a truce in Syria was announced by the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces at 19:00 on Monday, the armed groups have breached it several times and in a number of provinces.

The source announced that the armed groups breached the truce on Tuesday by firing a mortar shell on the surroundings of the Castello at 01:10 am and another mortar shell on the military academies area in al-Ramousa in Aleppo at 01:08 pm. Tallet al-Safra in the vicinity of the military academies was also targeted with mortar shells at 09:45 am.

Two mortar shells were also fired by the armed groups on military posts in Jamiyet al-Zahraa area at 03:15 am. The area was also targeted with explosive gas
cylinders at 03:30 am.

Two breaches took place last evening in Aleppo where the armed groups targeted with sniper fire residential buildings in the Justice Palace area in Aleppo city at 19:27 pm and fired three mortar rounds al-Mallah area in Aleppo countryside at 20:33 pm.

The armed groups breached the truce by targeting with sniper and gun fire a military post in Tasnim village at 20:45 and by targeting with machine gun fire military posts in Kfernan northwest of Homs at 21:00 pm on Monday.

Another breach of the truce took place at 22:15 on Monday where the armed groups targeted with machine gun fire military posts on Masyaf-Khirbet al-Sawda in the same part of Homs countryside.

The military source said that the armed groups also breached the truce at 12:15 pm on Tuesday by targeting with machine guns fire military posts in UmJabourin village in Homs countryside.

The truce is applied across Syria for seven days as of 19:00 on September 12th, 2016 and until 23:59 on September 18th.
