At least 16 Syrian people were killed in 40 airstrikes on the opposition-held areas in Aleppo city in northern Syria, Head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Ramy Abdel Rahman said on Sunday.
Dozens of people were also injured in the bombardment carried out by barrel bombs, he added.
The strikes targeted also a number of districts in the northern Aleppo countryside, he asserted.
Aleppo city has been witnessing fierce fighting between the Syrian government forces and opposition fighters since Saturday.
The clashes have led to the killing of 24 people, including six children in the western districts of Aleppo and eleven others in the eastern districts of Aleppo.
