Doctors Without Borders (MSF) announced on Saturday that 16 people have died in Madaya since allowing humanitarian aid into the besieged Syrian town two weeks ago.
MSF director Brice de le Vingne blamed the ongoing siege for the deaths, Al Arabiya Al Hadath channel reported.
He added that the blockade hinders the delivery of humanitarian aid and medical supplies, adding to the plight of more than 30,000 residents who are starving to death.
Nearly 320 people suffer from severe malnutrition, MSF warned.
The rescue agency urged the government and opposition to ensure an effective and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to the beleaguered Syrian town.
