A huge blast has rocked the area near Damascus International Airport early Thursday, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.
The Syrian Observatory said the explosion was followed by a fire at the same place, pointing out that the cause of the explosion is unclear.
"The blast was huge and could be heard in Damascus," local residents said. Damascus International Airport is located 25 kilometers southeast of the Syrian capital.
Reports about the explosion are conflicting, while some reports claim that the "explosions" resulted from the bombing of the auxiliary gas pipeline that generates electricity in the Syrian capital, other reports suggest that the incident was caused by Israel's Air Forces, according to the Russian (Sputnik) News Agency.
