A car bomb went off Sunday in a district of Syria's central city of Homs, killing three people and injuring some others, including women and children, the pro- government al-Ekhbaria TV reported. The car tore through al-Mazraa roundabout in al-Waer district in Homs, the report said, giving no further details. Some pro-government news websites said the blast occurred near a military post in the area. The blast comes as the Syrian army is making advancement in Homs, most notably in the district of al-Khalidieh. Meanwhile, the activists' Local Coordination Committees said thick black smoke was seen above several districts of the old Homs area due to the intense fighting and shelling there.
