An explosion took place in the vicinity of the medical school in the capital Damascus on Sunday, leaving unknown losses, reports said.
The pan-Arab al-Mayadeen TV said the blast was caused by a suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt, but spelled no further details.
Meanwhile, the pro-government Sham FM radio said an explosive belt went off, killing the armed man wearing it and another armed man wearing another explosive belt.
The state media in Syria has yet to report the incident as the circumstances are murky.
The blast took place amid the ongoing clashes between government troops and armed rebels in the eastern countryside of Damascus.
