At least 49 people, including 37 children, were killed as a result of barrel bombs dropped by the Syrian regime's helicopters on several areas over the last 36 hours, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Sunday.
Twenty children, below 18 years old, were killed in Al-Sabahya district in the northeastern of the eastern governorate of Al-Raqqa; Binch, Jabala and Al-Habit in the northern governorate of Idlib; and Abian town in the central Aleppo governorate; and Da'el town in the southern Daraa governorate.
Seventeen children were killed yesterday in similar attacks on Bab Al-Nayrab and Al-Ardh Al-Hamra districts of Aleppo; Al-Muhassan town in the eastern governorate of Deir Az-Zor; Al-Rastan and Al-Houla towns in the central Homs governorate; Khan Khaikhon town in Idlib; Nawa town in Daraa; and Irbin town on the eastern rural outskirts of Damascus.
Twelve people were killed and dozens of others injured in similar attacks on Idlib and Salkin.
Meanwhile, Islamic armed groups launched mortar attack on areas controlled by the regular troops in Idlib, where two soldiers and three civilians were reportedly injured, and the central Al-Zabaltani district of Damascus.
Deadly clashes are still going on in Al-Tadhamon, Jobar and Al-Yarmouk districts of Damascus between the Islamist Al-Nusra Front and other opposition forces, on one hand, and the regular troops and pro-regime militias, on the other.
No reports on casualties were received so far though each side claims victory over the other.
