The Algerian National Variety Orchestra, conducted by maestro Farid Aouamer, presented Sunday evening in Algiers “Hymn to liberty,” a show devoted to the patriotic song.
Created in October 2014, the Algerian National Variety Orchestra comprises about 40 instrumentalists bringing together musicians playing traditional genre and other modern styles.
“This orchestra will give to the Algerian song the position it deserves taking into account the role of youths in the promotion of the Algerian heritage,” said one of the recital’s organizers.
Eleven young talents performed at Ibn Zeidoun movie theatre a number of songs from the repertoires of famous Algerian singers, including Saliha Saghira, Warda El Djazaïria and late Na Cherifa.
A compilation of eight patriotic songs entitled “Hymn to liberty” was produced by the National Radio Channel 3 in partnership with the National Office of Copyright and Neighboring Rights (ONDA), on the occasion of the celebration of the 52nd anniversary of Algeria’s independence.
