Algerian band "Djmawi Africa" will take part in the 12th "Sauti za Busara" Music Festival in Zanzibar which will be held from 12 to 15 February, the organizers said.
The only Maghreb band invited by the festival, "Djamawi Africa" will host a concert at the closing show of the event which will brings together forty musical groups from especially in East Africa.
Founded in 2004, around a musical theme mixing rock and gnawi by young musicians Ahmed Djamil Ghouli (goumbri and sining), and Abdou El Ksouri (guitar), "Djmawi Africa" remains the most well-known band in Algeria.
After a ten-year career, the band has released three albums, which have harvested considerable success in Algeria while developing a style influenced by Rai, Chaabi, Celtic music and Algerian references like Cheikh Sidi Bémol or Gnawa Diffusion.
Created by the non-governmental organization "Busara Promotions", the festival will see the participation of Erik Aliana (Cameroon), Thai Diarra (Senegal), Sarabi (Kenya) and Isabel
Novella (Mozambique).
"Sauti za Busara" (Sounds of Wisdom), which also plans the projection of a dozen African films, aims since its creation to promote the music of the continent and tourism in the archipelago.
