US Ambassador to Iraq Douglas Silliman has voiced support for the Iraqi Armed Forces in their fight to liberate Iraq from Daesh.
"To the courageous Iraqi soldiers on the front lines: the American people wish you success in your mission," Silliman said in statements Monday.
"As the leader of the International Coalition to defeat Daesh, the United States stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Iraqi Security Forces to help rid Mosul, Ninewa and all Iraq, of these terrorist gangs."
Earlier in the day, Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi announced the launch of an operation to liberate Ninawa in northern Iraq from Daesh.
