The United Nations said Thursday that 750 Iraqis were killed in violence in April, the highest monthly death toll so far this year. The figures from the U.N. mission in Iraq (UNAMI) show that 610 civilians and 140 security-force members were killed last month. More than 1,500 Iraqis, including over 1,300 civilians, were wounded, the mission said. Baghdad was the worst affected by violence, with 252 people killed. The northern province of Nineveh recorded 119 killed, following by eastern Diyala province, with 71. The figures exclude the embattled western province of Anbar, where militants control parts of two cities.
