Joint Iraqi troops on Monday destroyed the defense lines of Daesh terrorist group and advanced towards the targets set as part of Nineveh Liberation Operation that was launched Monday dawn.
The Military Media Cell of the Joint Operations Command said the 8th Battalion of the Iraqi Army inflicted heavy losses on Daesh positions and their militants and reached to the outskirts of Hamdaniya district in southeastern Mosul.
The joint forces controlled nine villages in the neighborhood of Khazer axis, while Peshmerga troops advanced towards Hamdaniya crossroads and liberated three villages.
Kurdish military sources said retaking Khazer villlages would pave the way for restoring Hamdaniya district, which is a key location for the liberation of Mosul city, adding that Peshmerga troops did not suffer any losses during the operations to liberate the villages surrounding Mosul.
