Joint Iraqi forces on Tuesday reached the neighborhood of Shoura in southern Mosul, the capital city of Nineveh governorate, in anticipation of liberating it from Daesh terrorists.
A military source said the federal police forces have controlled the outskirts of Shoura in southern Mosul. The police forces, backed by Hashd al-Shaabi forces, also known as the Popular Mobilization Units (PMUs), have defused two booby-trapped cars on the southern axis of Mosul, while other five car bombs were destroyed in the neighborhood.
Meanwhile, the Nineth Armored Division of the Iraqi Army imposed a siege on Hamdaniya district in a bid to storm it amid shelling by mortars from Daesh militants.
Also, International Coalition war jets, upon a tip-off to the Iraqi intelligence and security troops, shelled a number of buildings in Ma'moun district and destroyed important positions and storehouses for Daesh in western Mosul.
